This is My Streetis an experimental film that employs a combination of 3D photogrammetry techniques, digital animation, and real-life footage of my memory of living in Beijing.
As the film progresses, the scenes change between reality and digital fabrication. My existing memory of walking through Beijing Hutong—a significant representation of culture and my identity—turns into an artefact being captured and displayed in a museum setting.
Through this re-contextualisation and digitalisation process, I want to reconsider how imperial power materialises other cultures. We often forget how cultures, communities, and vivid life scenes around us are constantly digitalised in this internet era; the imperial violence of alienation is not reducing, but rather progressing in a more gradual and unnoticeable way.
